Hi, I’m Lauren Garfield, LMFT-S

I help children, teenagers, young adults, and families when life gets overwhelming.

A family of three, including a young boy, a woman, and a man, standing together outdoors during sunset. The boy is pointing into the distance, and the family appears to be in a grassy field.

Anxiety gets in the way.

Anxiety is really great at protecting us when we’re in danger. If we weren’t anxious when a bear was chasing us, we’d just stand there and end up as bear lunch. Anxiety, however, is also really great at being a wall between us and where we want to be even when we’re safe: a wall that can feel insurmountable.

Anxiety likes to ask us “What if the scariest thing were to happen?” over and over and over.

Kids, teens, and young adults are in transitional years where growth and change can be exciting and scary— add anxiety in, and they can feel overwhelmed and helpless.

Therapy can help individuals and families build confidence and skills to move forward towards a meaningful life, even when anxiety is loud and persistent. It’s a safe place to explore the tough stuff that anxiety tells us to avoid, consider new ways of approaching overwhelming situations, and have a supportive and knowledgeable person to help us along the way.
